Foley to start work on Safe Room for first responders
FOLEY – Construction is expected to begin soon on a new Safe Room that will provide shelter for Foley first responders during hurricanes and other emergencies. The Foley City Council awarded the construction contract to Roy Lewis Construction, which submitted the lowest bid among 11 companies. Work complete on 12, 59 intersection
FOLEY -- Work is complete on major improvements at the intersection of Baldwin County 12 and Alabama 59 in Foley. Contractors and engineers confirmed on Friday, Dec. 19, that the project is finished. The improvements are designed to enhance traffic flow, safety and long-term durability at one of the city’s busiest intersections. Project upgrades included widening the roadway, extending culverts, adding new lighting and upgrading traffic signals. Foley to run Tuesday holiday event trains in December
FOLEY – During the Christmas holiday season, the Foley Event Train will make holiday runs at Heritage Park on Tuesday, Dec. 23, and Tuesday, Dec. 30. The train will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Passengers board and get off the train at the Foley Railroad Museum, located in the city’s historic 1909 L&N Depot on East Laurel Avenue. Rides are free. FOLEY – The City of Foley is continuing its work with state highway officials to improve traffic flow by upgrading and coordinating traffic signals across the city. The Foley City Council approved plans to modernize traffic lights along Miflin Road between Alabama 59 and Alabama 161. The upgrades are part of an ongoing partnership between the City of Foley and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to better coordinate signals on major corridors. FOLEY – After a weather delay, several rescheduled Christmas events are set to bring holiday cheer to Foley this weekend beginning Friday, Dec. 12.
