FAQs
How do I sign up for garbage/recycle pickup?
1.) Sign up for sanitation billing with Riviera Utilities
413 E. Laurel Ave., Foley, AL 36535
251-943-5001
2.) Riviera Utilities will provide a work order, which is the proof of billing that the City of Foley sanitation/public works department requires before any City of Foley sanitation service can be provided.
3.) The City of Foley sanitation/public works department can be notified of your proof of billing in one of three ways:
- Bring it into the public works building located at 120 E. Orchid Ave., Foley, AL
- Email it to the sanitation/public works department (foleypws@cityoffoley.org) as an attachment.
- Fax it to the sanitation/public works department at 251-970-2086.
4.) If the work order is emailed or faxed, contact the sanitation/public works department at 251-943-8897 to confirm that it has been received and to receive your service day information.
5.) All garbage/recycling must be curbside before 6:00 a.m. on the day of pickup.
Yard debris (limbs, leaves, grass clippings) should be placed three feet from any obstructions (mailboxes, power poles, trees, bulk items, etc.) Small yard waste may be placed in a pile on the curb, or inside biodegradable paper bags – plastic bags are no longer allowed. Limbs should be no longer than six (6) feet in length and no bigger than six (6) inches in diameter. Yard debris does not include stump removal. Mixed piles of yard debris and bulk items will not be picked up until they are separated.
The sanitation department will pick up six (6) cubic yards of yard debris per week. Six (6) cubic yards is roughly the size of a pickup truck bed. Removal of piles larger than this amount will result in a charge of $100 per load over the initial six (6) cubic yards. If you are not sure if your pile is too large, please call the office and a supervisor will come out to review your pile. Fees must be paid in advance of pickup.
Bulk item pickup is scheduled for the same day as your yard debris. It should be placed in a separate pile at the roadside by 6am on your scheduled day. Items should be placed at least three feet from any obstructions (mailboxes, power poles, trees, yard debris piles, etc.) Bulk items include appliances, furniture, items too large for the 96 gallon trash can, etc.
No hazardous items will be picked up as bulk, including but not limited to tires, vehicle batteries, paint, fluorescent bulbs, or chemicals of any kind. These items may be disposed of at one of the Baldwin County landfills.
The City of Foley does not have a landfill. The closest landfill is located in Magnolia Springs (251-972-6878).
The sanitation department picks up dead animals from the public streets and right of ways within the city limits of Foley. For pickup, call (251)943-8897.
