Foley Public Library to reopen on Monday, May 18

Mayor John Koniar announced today that the Foley Public Library will reopen on Monday, May 18, when it will resume its regular schedule. Restrooms in parks across the city, as well as the Comfort Station in the John B. Foley Park have been reopened. At this time, the Senior Center, city museums, train ride and Kids Park remain closed. The city is committed to working with Gov. Ivey and the Alabama Department of Public Health to protect residents during this outbreak. Baldwin County fire crews on guard, urging caution amid state fire danger advisory

Fire departments in Baldwin County are on guard and are urging the public to be cautious as the state issued a Fire Danger Advisory Thursday. Gulf Shores Deputy Fire Chief Keith Martin said his crews are staying prepared to fight any brush fire as it happens. "You hear the term 'it's a tinder box.' Foley to implement spending reduction measures

With revenue numbers in for March and April, Foley officials have begun implementing spending reduction measures to try and meet the end-of-year budget. “With the events as they have progressed due to the pandemic, and with businesses shut down, it has a material effect on our revenue streams,” said City Administrator Mike Thompson. “The directorial staff have started analyzing all of that and we’ve put together a new year-end forecast based on what we believe we’re likely to hit in terms of our revenue streams and our expenses.” Read more...

Governor Ivey issues amended Safer at Home order

Governor Kay Ivey on Friday issued an amended Safer at Home Order to be applied Statewide. The order which includes an expanded list of items to reopen will be effective Monday, May 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. and will expire on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Read the full order here.

Foley to resume curbside recycling

Foley residents will welcome the return of curbside recycling when the service resumes May 4 after being temporarily suspended since late March because of COVID-19. Recycling is one of several gradual reopening announced by Foley Mayor John Koniar on May 1, to coincide with the state’s new “Safer at Home” order. Foley Mayor begins reopening of city offices

Today Foley Mayor John Koniar announced plans for reopening a number of city offices on Monday, May 4, in conjunction with the state’s new “Safer at Home” order. New ‘safer at home’ health order eases some COVID-19 restrictions in Alabama while protecting our communities

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) announces a new statewide coronavirus emergency health order effective April 30 at 5 p.m. which relaxes a previous health order regarding individuals, employers, retailers, beaches and medical procedures. The order remains in effect until 5 p.m. on May 15. The order and fact sheets describing the “safer at home” order may be viewed at alabamapublichealth.gov. Governor Ivey issues Safer at Home order

Governor Kay Ivey on Tuesday held a joint press conference to provide further updates on COVID-19. She was joined by the State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris, as well as members of the Executive Committee of her Coronavirus Task Force.
