Fuller Brown to judge Art in the Park art show
There is $2,800.00 cash given out in show awards at the Art in the Park art show. The Best of Show award for the overall winner, receives $1,000.00. Fuller Brown has agreed to judge the show. City plans road/intersection improvements
Foley residents in the area of Graham Creek Nature Preserve may be getting a second way to reach the Foley Beach Express other than using County Road 12. Preliminary discussions were started at the April 18 city council meeting. During the meeting, the council also accepted a bid for $4.5 million to extend Juniper Street south past Miflin Road then taking a turn west to connect to State Route 59 at the County Road 20 South intersection. New National Guard Armory nears completion
The new National Guard Super Armory in the Foley Industrial Park is nearing completion and personnel and equipment will be moving from the old building behind city hall sometime this summer. “It took them a while to get the monies and the approval with the Army,” Mayor Ralph Hellmich said. “They move meticulously. FEMA to up reimbursements for Hurricane Sally
FOLEY – The city of Foley is set to gain almost $1 million after Congress on March 22 authorized FEMA to up reimbursements for Hurricane Sally damage to 90 percent. “Hurricane Sally recovery, until recently, had been funded at the rate of 75 percent federal, 12.5 percent state and 12.5 local municipal or county,” Foley City Administrator Michael Thompson said. “That is very good news because it means it saves the city 7.5 percent of the cost of recovery from the storm as well as the state 7.5 percent.
