Foley Art Center hosts Pop-Up Local Arts and Crafts Market

The Foley Art Center will be hosting an Arts and Crafts Market 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13.  Over 25 juried vendors (members from the Art Center) will exhibit their handmade work outside, plus inside the gallery there will be over 75 member's work for sale on consignment. The market will be located at the Foley Art Center,  211 N McKenzie St., Hwy 59, next to the Pedestrian Bridge parking lot and inside the Gallery. Foley receives minimal impact from Tropical Storm Cristobal

Foley residents experienced minimal impacts from Tropical Storm Cristobal, which brought gusty winds and bands of showers throughout the weekend. In addition to limited power outages and a lightning strike to the traffic light at the Foley Beach Express and County Road 20, Foley fire and police departments reported several trees down across the city, two briefly blocking roadways at S. Park at OWA Reopens June 5

Amusement park puts final touches in place for summer opening OWA will officially reopen its amusement park, on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 11 am. Due to the current situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Baldwin County Disaster Preparedness & Recovery Expo has been rescheduled from June 9, 2020 to August 5, 2020. Foley decides to go forward with Farmers Market Road project

Foley council made the decision during its May meeting to return to the original plan of improving Farmers Market Road as opposed to extending Pecan Street. Earlier this year, Foley passed a resolution to increase and appropriate funds to connect Pride Drive North to South Pecan Street, while pushing back the planned Farmers Market Road project. At the time, Pecan Street had become a higher priority than Farmers Market Road due to OWA’s upcoming RV Park. 2020 is a municipal election year

Foley’s municipal elections will be held on Aug. 25 at the Foley Event Center, located at 1001 E. Pride Blvd. Each resident who lives within the Foley city limits will have the opportunity to vote for mayor and the council person who represents their district. The mayor is elected at large, meaning everyone votes for the mayoral position. Foley reopens attractions based on state guidelines

Foley Mayor John Koniar is happy to announce that with the additional guidance from Gov. Ivey announced May 21, the following city services will be open to the public as listed below: The Holmes Medical Museum and the Foley Railroad Museum will open on Saturday, May 23, following 50% occupancy and social distancing guidelines. Rides on Foley’s event train around Heritage Park will resume on May 30. Foley’s Model Train Exhibit and Senior Center will reopen when safety modifications are completed at both locations. Governor Ivey Issues Amended Safer at Home Order

Governor Kay Ivey on Thursday issued an amended Safer at Home Order to be applied Statewide. The order which includes an expanded list of items to reopen will be effective Friday, May 22, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. and will expire on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. These update affect entertainment venues, athletic activities, educational institutions, child day care facilities and summer camps. Foley installing UV system in HVAC at Foley Event Center

Foley City Council voted to purchase and install UV lights for the HVAC at the Foley Event Center, the same system Trane Building Services uses within hospitals. The system is meant to provide a safer environment within the facility by helping to minimize viruses, molds, and bacteria.
