Foley celebrates Pine Street Park opening
FOLEY, AL – A ribbon cutting will mark the opening of Foley’s newest park, located at 300 W. Laurel Avenue, adjacent to Foley’s Historic Downtown and the Foley Middle School, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023. The park came about thanks to the cooperation of several entities that include the City of Foley, the Baldwin County Board of Education and Foley Main Street. The Foley City Council will meet in a joint regular/work session on Jan. 3 at city hall at 4 p.m. During the meeting the council will: Have a public hearing and second reading to consider amendment for an ordinance change for the initial zoning of property owned by Keystone Development to planned unit development. Foley firefighter certified as Alabama Smoke Diver
FOLEY, AL – Foley firefighter David Snyder recently completed the Alabama Smoke Diver training course, which places him among an elite group of firefighters. The advanced course teaches firefighter survival and rescue skills in order for a firefighter to be able to perform victim rescues, firefighter rescues and self-rescues in extreme fire conditions. Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich receives Leadership Award
FOLEY, AL – Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich was recently chosen to receive the Distinguished Leadership Award for an Elected Public Official by the Alabama/Mississippi Chapter of the American Planning Association. The award was presented at the 2022 fall conference of the AL/MS Chapters of the American Planning Association, held in Orange Beach, Alabama. City of Foley Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Closures
In celebration of the Christmas holidays and New Year's Day, the City of Foley announces the following closures: City administrative offices will be closed on Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, Dec. 27. In addition, offices will be closed Jan. 2 in observance of New Year's Day, resuming operations on Jan. 3. Police and fire and emergency services will remain open throughout the holidays to ensure public safety. Garbage and Recycling service will be altered this week. Foley fares well during Wednesday storms
As tornados and damaging winds moved across the area Wednesday (Dec. 14) evening, Foley was spared the worst effects of the storm. “We did have some power outages and transformers blown,” said Foley Executive Director of Public Safety David Wilson. “We dodged a bullet compared to the damage and some loss of life in Louisiana and some of the other states,” Wilson added. Foley applies for federal grants to improve city airport
Pending approval of a grant application by the FAA, the city of Foley plans to build a new terminal building at the city’s airport. The building was one of several public projects presented by the planning commission to the city council during a joint work/regular session on Dec. 5. FOLEY, AL – Snap Soccer and Foley Sports Tourism have long shared the mission of growing the game of soccer. The Gulf States Showcase is a huge part of their dedication to helping young players extend their careers beyond high school. This year the Showcase is taking place at the FST Fields Dec. 9 - 11.
