FOLEY – The Beulah Heights Park will get improvements under plans being considered by the Foley City Council.

Funding for the project is on the agenda for the council meeting that begins Monday, Oct. 21. The meeting and work session begin at 4 p.m at Foley City Hall. 

The council is scheduled to vote on lighting and fence upgrades at the park. The project includes replacing the fencing at the softball field and basketball court with LED sports lighting. The city will also go out for bids on fencing and other components to complete the project.

Other items on the council agenda for Monday include:

  • A public hearing to declare weeds a nuisance and to order its abatement at a vacant lot at the intersection of South Hickory Street and Baldwin County 20.
  • Presenting Beautification and Revitalization Awards.
  • Discussing the Countywide Bike/Pedestrian Connectivity Plan.
  • Approving and paying bills.
  • Hearing department reports for Community Development, Marketing, Police Department, Fire Department, taxes and permits.
  • Declaring city real property surplus and authorizing its transfer in exchange for other property.
  • Approving an amendment to the IRH Foley LLC warranty deed.
  • Rescinding Ordinance 24-2020 and declaring city property surplus and no longer needed and authorizing its sale.
  • Approving an ABC license for a special events retail for an applicant operating under the name Dia De Los Muertos on McKenzie Street.
  • Approving monthly bids for September.
  • Entering into a school resource officer reimbursement agreement with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Approving a facade grant for Gypsy Queen Java.
  • Approving a Capstone Professional Services proposal for the East Verbena Avenue Extension Project.
  • Going to bid for a new SUV for the City Clerk’s Office.
  • Approving a resolution of support for the Baldwin County Multimodal Connectivity Vision Plan.
  • Amending the lease agreement between Foley and Foley CB, LLC.
  • Approving a commercial lease agreement between Foley and Foley CB, LLC.
  • Approving two, one-day members only Pop-Up Local Arts and Crafts Shows on Nov. 16 and Nov. 30 at the Foley Arts Center.
  • Entering into a cooperative maintenance agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation along Alabama 59 and U.S. 98.
  • Purchasing LED outline lighting for downtown business owners and appropriating funding for the Part 2 Tree Lighting Project.
  • Reappropriating funding to create a museum exhibit commemorating Barin Field and Foley’s designation as an American World War II Heritage City.
  • Entering into the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force overtime reimbursement agreement for the 2025 fiscal year.
  • Approving the professional land surveying proposal from Goodwyn Mills Cawood for right-of-way acquisitions.
  • Accepting the costs for the abatement of a dilapidated building on South Cedar Street and authorizing that a copy of the action be sent to the Baldwin County tax collector.
  • Accepting the cost of weed abatement on South Hickory Street and authorizing that a copy of the section be sent to the Baldwin County tax collector.
  • Approving a Halloween Trunk and Treat event at Beulah Heights Park on Sunday, Oct. 27.
  • Authorizing employees to enter property at a vacant lot at the intersection of South Hickory Street and Baldwin County 20.
  • Approving the Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermens Market Park property expansion project utilizing impact fee funding.
  • Purchasing a power hose roller for the Foley Fire Department.
  • Authorizing the mayor to sign a letter of intent to purchase self contained breathing apparatuses for the Foley Fire Department.
