FOLEY – Developing a stormwater management plan for the Bon Secour River is one of the items on the Foley City Council agenda for Monday, Dec. 2.
The council will hold its regular work session and meeting in City Hall starting at 4 p.m.
At the meeting, the council is scheduled to vote on accepting a state grant to develop the plan. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources approved the Alabama Coastal Area Management Program grant for the city.
In 2023, the city began work on drainage improvements on the river that included removing debris left in the waterway after past hurricanes.
Other items on the council agenda include:
- A public hearing to consider rezoning property owned by Foley Professional Park from preferred office, PO, and extended business district, B1A, to planned unit development, PUD.
- Considering public project recommendations from the Planning Commission.
- Rezoning property owned by Delaney Investments inc./Springdale Stores from extended business district, BiA, to planned unit development, PUD.
- Rezoning property owned by Delaney Investments inc./Springdale Stores to planned unit development, PUD.
- Approving an intergovernmental service agreement for the use of county voting machines and the service of the county voting machine custodian and employees for municipal elections.
- Rezoning property owned by Foley Professional Park from preferred office, PO, and extended business district, B1A, to planned unit development, PUD.
- Approving a lounge retail liquor Class II (package) for Liquor Paradise on North McKenzie Street.
- Approving a change order for the Juniper Street South Extension Project.
- Applying for the Gulf Coast Environmental Equity Center’s request for proposals.
- Amending the Street Department budget for sidewalk maintenance.
- Accepting the Alabama Power Good Roots Grant.
- Approving a facade grant extension for Vita Bruno/Truist.
- Waiving fees for the use of city parks to host Christmas caroling events.
- Waiving fees for the use of Heritage Park by Crosspoint Baptist Church to host a candlelight worship service on Dec. 20.
- Purchasing an auger for the Street Department.
- Purchasing a sign puller for the Street Department.
- Approving the purchase of a pre-fabricated building for the Finance Department.
- Declaring two John Deere gators in the Parks and Recreation Department as surplus.
- Authorizing an economic development agreement by the City of Foley and Coroc/Riviera.
- Approving additional funds for Phase Two of the Heritage Park electrical upgrades and park improvements.
- Authorizing the project user fee agreement in the Tanger Project Fee Area by the City of Foley and the City of Foley Public Facilities Cooperative District.
- Approving additional funding for the new rest rooms at John B. Foley Park.
- Approving the rental of Heritage Park for the Gumbo and Alabama Slammer Festival and granting a variance to allow alcohol to be sold.
- Approving the rental of Heritage Park for the Mudbugs and Margaritas Festival and granting a variance to allow alcohol to be sold.
- Setting a public hearing to consider the rezoning of property owned by Delaney Investments inc./Springdale Stores from extended business district, BiA, to planned unit development, PUD.
