FOLEY – Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 29, on the second phase of sidewalk construction along North Cedar Street.
Crews will be installing drainage pipe and building sidewalks on the east side of Cedar Street between West Fern Avenue and West Peachtree Avenue. During construction, access to some residential driveways in this area may be temporarily affected.
Residents with questions or who would like more information can contact the Foley Public Works Street Department at 251-943-8897 or by email at foleypws@cityoffoley.org.
The work is part of a city effort to connect sidewalks around Foley as a master plan to improve connectivity. Part of the project will extend sidewalks north on Cedar Street to Peachtree Avenue.
In 2024, sidewalks were extended north on Cedar Street from Mel Roberts Park to West Fern Avenue.
The Foley City Council has committed $1 million in each of the past two budgets for new sidewalks throughout the city. Future projects also include plans to connect the Mills Community, annexed into Foley in 2023, to the city’s existing sidewalk system.
