Because of the July 4 holiday, the Foley City Council will meet on Tuesday, July 5, at 4 p.m. at city hall. During the joint work/regular session, the council will:
Have a public hearing and second reading on a rezoning request from the Downey family to change 125 acres from agricultural open to planned unit development. The property is located on Wolf Bay Drive near the Graham Creek Nature preserve.
Have a public hearing and second reading of an ordinance change for Grey Contracting from extended business and multi-family to single family and duplex. The 10 acres is located west of the Foley Beach Express and south of County Road 20.
Have a public hearing and second reading of an ordinance change for Luis Tabare 20 acres from RV park to single-family and duplex uses. It is located south of County Road 20 and west of the Foley Beach Express.
Have a public hearing on an ordinance change in the business license section to add regulations for allowing short-term rentals.
Consider formalizing a donation to the Miracle League of Coastal Alabama in an effort to build a playground and baseball field for mentally and physically challenged children and adults in Summerdale.
Hear an introduction of an ordinance amendment to zone three acres at the corner of Hance Lane and Wolf Creek Ridge to agricultural open.
Consider a resolution to pay for and go out for bids on a North Pecan Street road project. There is $316,174 budgeted for the work but the Street Department is asking for $126,326 to cover the rising cost of materials. Work is expected to begin in 2023. The agenda states the project’s purpose is to help with north-south traffic in Foley.
Consider a resolution to set a public hearing on declaring weeds on a lot in the Crown Walk Subdivision a nuisance and ordering its abatement.
Consider a resolution to set a public hearing on declaring weeds at 1914 Colorado Court a public nuisance and ordering its abatement.
Consider a resolution to set a public hearing on declaring weeds on a lot in Sea Cole subdivision a nuisance and ordering its abatement.
Consider a resolution to approve applying for fiscal year 2022 Community Development Block Grants.
Consider a resolution approving the use of Max Griffin Park for the Jehovah Witness Community to display free Bible-based literature on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Consider reappointing Vera Quaites to the Public Facilities Cooperative District Board.
Consider a resolution declaring the badge and two service weapons for Sgt. Michelle Oliver as surplus.
Discuss a one-time lump-sum bonus for retirees at the rate of $2 per month of service for total cost to the city of $36,344.
Discuss a resolution to accept a $434,388 bid submitted by Dortch, Figures & Sons for runway and taxiway pavement maintenance at the Foley Municipal Airport and to rescind a resolution that previously awarded the project to Ameriseal at a $486,293 cost.
Consider a resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract with Revenue Solutions for three years at a cost of $874 the first year, $935 the second and $1,001 the third.
Discuss a resolution to begin security upgrades with new lighting at the Justice Center by Riviera Utilities at cost of $28,375.
