The Foley City Council will hold its regular work session and meeting Monday, May 5.

The meeting begins at 4 p.m. at Foley City Hall.

Among the items on the council agenda are:

  • A public hearing to consider an ordinance to amend the Foley Zoning Ordinance.
  • A proclamation recognizing Small Business Week.
  • A proclamation recognizing Building Safety Month.
  • A proclamation recognizing Mental Health Monday.
  • Accepting public rights of way and infrastructure improvements in Lakeview Gardens Phase 2 and Phase 3 for city maintenance.
  • Amending the Foley Zoning Ordinance.
  • Approving the southwest quadrant traffic calming implementation and speed limit standardization. 
  • Reducing the speed limit on James Road.
  • Establishing the use of electronic vote counting devices.
  • Temporarily suspending consideration or approval of certain types of residential projects, certain types of residential rezoning requests, certain types of residential site plan approvals and certain types of residential subdivisions by the city of Foley and its Planning Commission and for other purposes.
  • Approval of an ABC license for retail table wine, on or off premises for ONS Hospitality operating under the trade name Fairfield Inn and Suites, Foley on Aryan Court.
  • Purchasing an EH718 Standard 14K equipment trailer for the Street Department.
  • Declaring weeds to be a public nuisance on South Hickory Street.
  • Approving GMC’s survey proposal for the South Alston Street survey and to appropriate necessary funding.
  • Declaring multiple Street Department items as surplus and authorizing its disposal and the purchase of replacements.
  • Purchasing a 2025 Ford F150 four-wheel drive crew cab pickup truck for the Public Works Maintenance Shop.
  • Approving the intergovernmental service agreement with the Baldwin County Commission for the Michigan Avenue-Hickory Street intersection improvement project.
  • Reappointing Sandy Russell to the Museum Archive Board.
  • Approving WAS Design’s professional service proposal for landscape architectural services.
  • Approving special-called council meetings to canvass municipal election results.
  • Acknowledging and approving the emergency purchase of an air-conditioning unit for City Hall.
  • Waiving fees and approving Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church to host a May Day event at Beulah Heights Park.
  • Waiving fees for the Dream Center of Baldwin County.
  • Sharing costs of a gravity sewer line installation on East Section Avenue.
