FOLEY – The Foley City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 21, has been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23 due to severe winter weather.
The council work session and meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at Foley City Hall.
The meeting had previously been rescheduled from Monday due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
Snow and freezing rain are forecast for Tuesday in Foley.
Items on the Jan. 23 agenda include:
- A presentation by Foley High School.
- Hearing the Foley Main Street Annual Report.
- A presentation on a Foley budget award.
- Approving bills for December.
- Monthly reports for December including taxes, permits and department reports from the Marketing, Community Development, Police and Fire departments.
- Annexing property owned by Delaney Investments Inc.
- Declaring property surplus and selling the parcel.
- Reckoning Foley High School for receiving the School of Excellence Award from the Alabama Board of Education and A+ College Ready.
- Approving bids for December.
- Authorizing bid awards for the renovation of the old Foley National Guard armory building.
- Purchasing two Ford F-150 pickup trucks from Riviera Utilities.
- Approving the application for the Fiscal Year 2024 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Coastal Zone Management Habitat Protection and Restoration completed through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
- Approving a lease agreement for parking spaces on West Laurel Avenue between the city and Foley CB LLC.
- Approving sponsorship for the Ronald McDonald House charity event.
- Purchasing a backhoe for the Parks and Recreation Department and declaring the current backhoe surplus and disposing of the equipment.
- Accepting an FY2025 Library Service Technology Act grant.
- Applying for an FY2025 Dollar General grant for summer reading.
- Waiving the fees for the use of Heritage Park and the pavilion for the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation’s annual BBQ and Blues Cook-Off fundraising event between Thursday, March 6 and Saturday March 8.
- Approving the use of Heritage Park by the Jehovah Witness Community to display Bible-based literature.
- Approving the first amendment to the franchise agreement between the city of Foley and Hotwire Group LLC.
