FOLEY – Foley sanitation crews began collecting garbage Friday after delays due to severe winter weather.

Collection was delayed for much of the week due to severe winter weather. Public Works officials asked that residents and business operators be patient as crews work to catch up on the routes.

Crews will be collecting garbage Friday on routes where collections are scheduled for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Saturday, collections are scheduled on Thursday and Friday routes.

On Friday, the city added two additional trucks to the collection routes in order to complete collections as soon as possible.

While many Foley offices were closed after the area received record snowfall and several days of freezing temperatures, Public Works crews were working to keep roads cleared in the city.
