FOLEY — Crews are busy this week changing out decorative plants along major roads and public spaces throughout Foley.

Several times a year, the Foley Horticulture Department partners with Landscape Workshop to update plantings around the city, adding new varieties that are suited to each season.

In November, winter plants are set out ahead of the Christmas holiday season and community events such as Christmas in the Park and the Foley Christmas Parade on the first weekend in December. The goal is to have all seasonal beds refreshed before those celebrations begin.

Current plantings are taking place at:

  • Foley Welcome Center

  • Centennial Park

  • City flagpole on Alabama 59

  • Foley Art Center and Pedestrian Bridge

  • Chicago Street

  • Intersections along Alabama 59 and U.S. 98

  • Beds around city gateway signs

At least 14 varieties of winter plants are being installed in these areas, bringing color and interest to Foley’s streetscapes during the colder months.

The Foley Revitalization and Beautification Advisory Board oversees the seasonal planting program.
