FOLEY – Foley will dedicate the city’s airport in honor of the community’s long-time mayor, Arthur Holk, on Friday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m..

The Foley City Council voted in 2025 to name the facility Holk Field at Foley Municipal Airport. The field is named for former Mayor Arthur Holk.

Holk was a five-term member of the Foley City Council from 1952 until 1972. He also served five terms as mayor from 1976 until 1996. He was the first pilot to land an airplane at the new Foley Municipal Airport when the facility opened in 1967.

Holk died in 2021.

The ceremony will include members of Holk’s family, city officials and community members. The event will also include the dedication of a sign showing the new name of the airport.

Holk Field at the Foley Municipal Airport is located at 510 Airport Drive near Underwood Road, Baldwin County 24, about five miles from the Tanger Outlet Center and about 15 miles from the Gulf beaches.
