FOLEY — Foley continues to grow as a destination for visitors and a hub for economic development with the opening of the Cobblestone Hotel on Koniar Way.

The 73-room facility was officially dedicated Tuesday, June 10, during a ceremony attended by city officials, the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, Coastal Alabama Business Chamber, local business leaders and community members.

City Administrator Mike Thompson said the hotel’s location near Foley’s major sports and recreation facilities makes it an important addition to the city’s hospitality offerings.

“This project is very important to Foley,” Thompson said. “With our Sports Tourism complex just to the north and the event center within walking distance, having additional lodging right here helps us retain more visitors and better support our growing tourism economy.”

The Cobblestone Hotel supports Foley’s broader efforts to enhance local tourism and expand recreational facilities. Thompson noted that recent investments just north of the hotel—including new pickleball and sand volleyball courts—are expected to attract both residents and visiting sports teams.

“We’re glad to welcome Cobblestone as our newest corporate citizen,” he said. “We look forward to a strong, long-term partnership.”

Frank Shepard, director of membership at the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of additional lodging options as the city continues to grow.

“This hotel is not only beautiful, but it fills a critical need in our community,” Shepard said. “It reflects the progress and momentum we’re seeing throughout Foley.”

Jeremy Griesbach, president of development for Cobblestone Hotels, said the Foley location is the chain’s second in Alabama, with a third now under construction in Bay Minette. He thanked the City of Foley for helping make the project a success.

“This idea started back in 2019, and so many people played a role in bringing it to life,” Griesbach said. “From city leadership to planning, inspections, and utilities—everyone was incredibly helpful and committed to making this a smooth and successful development.”

Cobblestone Hotels now operates or is building 162 hotels across 27 states. The new Foley location is another sign of the city’s continued growth and commitment to attracting investment, jobs, and visitors.
