FOLEY – The first step toward building an aquatics center at the site of the city pool in Max Griffin Park is one of the items on the Foley City Council agenda for Monday, April 1.

The council is scheduled to vote on a site survey and design work for the new indoor center. The facility would replace the existing outdoor pool at the park on West Roosevelt Avenue.

During a recent survey conducted in preparation of a strategic plan for Foley, residents said an indoor pool is one of the new recreation facilities needed in the city.

The council will begin its work session and regular meeting at 4 p.m., at Foley City Hall.

Other items on the agenda include:

  • A proclamation on Child Abuse Prevention Month.
  • A proclamation recognizing Kathleen Parker.
  • The first reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 9, “Health and Safety” of the Foley City Code.
  • The first reading of an ordinance rezoning property owned by Grey Contracting from R-4, residential single family and duplex, to R-2, residential single family and duplex.
  • The first reading of an ordinance adopting the Baldwin County 9-1-1 GIS/Addressing Office for addresses and street name standards within the city of Foley.
  • The first reading of an ordinance amending the Foley zoning ordinance.
  • Setting the maximum axle limit for Kenny Stabler Avenue between South Juniper Street and East Pride Boulevard.
  • Repealing ordinance 13-1030-ORD and creating a Library Board and Library Advisory Board.
  • Approving the installation of two new gate systems at the Foley Municipal Airport and declaring existing equipment surplus.
  • Purchasing two zero-turn mowers for the Street Department.
  • Authorizing a planned capital project for the Sports Tourism Event Center signage.
  • Authorizing an economic development agreement between the city of Foley and SCP/BPG Magnolia Holdings LLC.
  • Authorizing an economic development agreement between the city of Foley and Octave Foley LLC.
  • Buying maintenance shop equipment for the new Public Works campus.
  • Approving Thompson Engineering’s Addendum No. 1 for Foley Beach Express Improvements.
  • Approving payment for a drug counselor at the Dream Center for two years.
  • Amending the pay classification plan in the Police Department.
  • Increasing the Police Department Small Tools Account for the purchase of decibel meters.
  • Accepting the costs for the dilapidated building abatement on West Avenue and authorizing a copy to be sent to the Baldwin County Tax Collector.
  • Requesting approval of the application for the Fiscal Year 2025 LSTA grant.
  • Authorizing the mayor to sign a service and purchase agreement with NEOGOV for three years.
  • Authorizing and consenting to the transfer of ownership, maintenance and responsibility for portions of Angie Drive, Barin Field Road, Bodenhamer Road, Hickory Street South, Keller Road, Pettibone Lane, Robert Lane Drive and Sandy Ridge Road from Baldwin County to the city of  Foley.
  • Appoint Tyler Higganbotham as an alternate member of the Board of Regents and Adjustments.
  • Approving the application for the FY2025 Alabama Coastal  Area Management Program Grant for the construction of a Butterfly  conservatory.
  • Purchasing two generators for the new Public Works campus.
  • Approving the application for the FY2025 Alabama Coastal  Area Management Program Grant for the development of an open space,  greenways, and trails plan.
  • Setting a public hearing to rezone property  owned by Grey Contracting of Greenville, LLC from R-4, residential family and duplex, to R-2, residential single family and duplex.
  • Increasing the budget by $6,431 for dues and subscriptions.
  • Authorizing the city of Foley to assist the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce with the 2024 annual Hot Air Balloon Festival.
  • Approving the sponsorship for Foley Youth Football.
  • Memorializing the closing of the city and personal leave accrual for regular employees.
  • Approving a budget increase to purchase a Senior Center shuttle bus.
