Foley Midday Melodies Concert Series returns March 4

The City of Foley’s free lunchtime concert series, Midday Melodies, returns to Heritage Park on Wednesday, March 4, with the first of four performances scheduled this month. Concerts will take place each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park’s Centennial Clock Tower. The series is free and open to the public. Medal of Honor hero has link to Foley aircraft

FOLEY – A Navy veteran who once flew in Foley’s historic N3N aircraft will receive the nation’s highest military honor more than 70 years after his actions in combat. Capt. Royce Williams, now 100 years old, will receive the Medal of Honor from President Donald Trump for his bravery during a 1952 dogfight in which he singlehandedly engaged seven enemy MiG-15 fighters. Work begins on Miflin Road

FOLEY – Work on Miflin Road may affect traffic in upcoming weeks as crews make improvements to the route in south Foley. Work is now underway to add turn lanes, curbs and other enhancements to improve safety and traffic flow along the busy commercial corridor between Alabama 59 and South Juniper Street. Foley Library gets $40,000 boost from annual book sale

Construction of the new Foley Public Library is getting a generous boost thanks to the continued support of local book lovers. The Friends of the Foley Library recently donated $40,000 to help purchase equipment for the new library and community center, which is scheduled to open in May. The contribution follows the friends’ annual book sale, the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year. The City of Foley is one of only five cities in Alabama to receive multiple national awards for excellence in financial reporting. Foley Event Train to Make Special Holiday Runs in February

The Foley Event Train will offer special holiday runs at Heritage Park on Tuesday, Feb. 17, and Thursday, Feb. 19. In addition to the special dates, the train will operate on its regular schedule on Saturday, Feb. 21. The train runs from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Passengers board and exit at the Foley Railroad Museum, located in the city’s historic 1909 L&N Depot on East Laurel Avenue. Foley Safe Room for First Responders Scheduled to Open by 2027 Hurricane Season

The City of Foley has taken a major step toward strengthening emergency preparedness with the groundbreaking of a new Safe Room designed to house first responders during hurricanes and other major events. City officials broke ground on the facility Monday, Feb. 9. Construction is scheduled to begin next week, with the building expected to be ready for use by the 2027 hurricane season. Foley Advances Improvements to Downtown Public Parking Lot

Foley continues to invest in downtown infrastructure with additional improvements planned for the city’s public parking lot at the intersection of U.S. 98 and Alabama 59.
