The City of Foley will begin construction on a new Safe Room designed to provide a location for first responders during emergencies, marking a major milestone in the city’s emergency preparedness efforts. Foley will mark the city’s 45th Arbor Day on Saturday, Feb. 28, with a community celebration featuring free trees, horticultural advice and a tribute to two residents whose public service left a lasting impact. Foley advances plans for new north–south roadway connection

The City of Foley is moving forward with plans to develop a new north–south roadway that will improve connectivity between U.S. 98 and Gulf Shores. The Foley City Council approved a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation proposal, a key step in continuing roadway planning for the extension of James Road south from Brinks Willis Road to Gulf Shores. Foley Railroad Museum to close Saturday, Jan. 31

Due to expected extreme cold weather, the Foley Railroad Museum will be closed Saturday, Jan. 31. The Foley Event Train and the Model Train Exhibit will also be closed Saturday.  The National Weather Service has placed the Foley area under an Extreme Cold Watch from Friday, Jan. 30, until Sunday, Feb. 1.  The Foley Railroad Museum is scheduled to reopen Monday, Feb. 2. Foley Adds New Street Lights to Improve Visibility

The City of Foley is installing additional street lighting in growing areas of the community to improve visibility and safety. The Foley City Council approved the installation of 13 new street lights at two locations across the city. Eight street lights will be added along Cater Lee Way near the entrance to the Foley Sports Complex. Decorative Crosswalk Art Coming to Downtown Foley

Hand-painted artwork will soon transform several crosswalks in downtown Foley, adding visual interest while promoting pedestrian safety and walkability. The Foley City Council has approved plans to temporarily close select streets and alleys for approximately two days at a time to allow for the installation of artwork by artist Ragan Windsor. Prescribed burns planned Jan. 27-28 at Graham Creek Nature Preserve

FOLEY – The Graham Creek Nature Preserve will conduct prescribed burns on Tuesday, Jan. 27, and Wednesday, Jan 28, as part of ongoing land management and conservation efforts. Prescribed fire is a vital tool used to maintain healthy ecosystems, reduce the risk of wildfires, improve wildlife habitat and support native plant species. Miflin Road Improvement Project to Begin Soon

Work is scheduled to begin in the coming days on a roadway improvement project along Miflin Road east of Alabama 59. The project will add turn lanes, curbs and other enhancements designed to improve safety and traffic flow along this busy commercial corridor.
