A new wetland preserve designed to highlight stream restoration and environmental recovery is expected to open to the public within the next year. Work continues at the Andrew James Wetland Preserve, located near the headwaters of the Bon Secour River. Foley event to welcome back monarch butterflies
The City of Foley is welcoming monarch butterflies back to the Alabama Gulf Coast with a special community event in May and continued plans for a future monarch conservatory. Foley, in partnership with Riviera Utilities, will host the inaugural Welcome Back Monarchs celebration on Saturday, May 9, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Foley Civic Center. The City of Foley is moving forward with plans to enhance amenities at the Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermens Market (CAFFM) and the city’s Sports Tourism facilities, including the addition of a new commercial kitchen and permanent restrooms. South Chicago Street reopens with improvements
South Chicago Street has reopened following the completion of streetscape improvements that enhance both the appearance and accessibility of the corridor. New brick pavers and decorative columns now mark the entrance to the street, creating a welcoming gateway. Foley planting 250 trees for America’s birthday
The City of Foley is marking a milestone in American history by planting 250 trees throughout the community in 2026 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States. Foley Public Works, Engineering offices closing Friday
The City of Foley Public Works Department, along with the Sanitation and Engineering Department offices, will be closed to the public on Friday, April 24, as staff prepare to relocate to new facilities opening soon. Sanitation services will continue without interruption, and all routes will operate on their regular schedules. The City of Foley is moving forward with improvements to wayfinding signage at one of Baldwin County’s busiest intersections, enhancing both navigation and visual appeal. The Foley City Council has approved a plan to update Scenic Byway signage at the intersection of Alabama 59 and U.S. 98 in downtown Foley. Foley Shred Day Thursday
Foley area residents who want to safely dispose of documents can come to City Hall on Thursday, April 23 for Shred Day. Shred Day will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot behind City Hall at 407 E. Laurel Ave. Residents can bring old bank statements and any other paperwork needing to be shredded. Participants are asked not to bring any items with binder clips or CDs. This service is for residential recycling only. Documents will be shredded onsite and recycled after the event.
