FOLEY – An additional garbage truck is an example of how Foley is expanding services to meet the demands of growth. Foley High student improvement programs recognized
FOLEY – A Foley High School program that improves student academics, attendance and behavior has received regional recognition and is being considered for additional honors.. Foley High has been named a School of Distinction by the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools. The award recognizes school programs that serve as an outstanding educational model for other schools in Alabama. Foley moving ahead with park improvements
FOLEY – New restroom facilities at the Beulah Heights Park are the latest project to improve park facilities around Foley. The Foley City Council voted Monday, April 3, to approve construction of a new bathroom facility at Beulah Heights Park on East Jefferson Street. The report presented to the council said the current restrooms are old, outdated, in poor condition and needing to be replaced. Foley joins statewide assistance program
FOLEY – A statewide assistance program should bring aid to local communities sooner after hurricanes or other disasters. The Foley City Council voted Monday, April 3, to allow the Foley Fire Department to join the Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs Mutual Aid Consortium Agreement. FOLEY – The Beulah Heights Park will get new restroom facilities at a cost of $175,000 under a proposal to be considered by the Foley City Council. FOLEY – On Charolais Road, two oaks stand where they have been growing since about the time that Foley was founded more than 100 years ago. The two live oaks on the property of Harold Hamburg were recognized recently in the Foley Century Tree program. FOLEY – Local fire departments and other emergency services are working on a mutual aid system that could get relief to first responders and residents sooner after disasters such as hurricanes. Renovations planned for closed 1925 Foley bakery building
FOLEY – The owners of the former Foley Bakery building, closed for more than 15 years, plan to start improvements to the almost century-old structure in hopes of reopening the facility. The Foley City Council voted Monday, March 20, to approve a facade grant for $19,500 to pay some of the costs of replacing and doors and other improvements to the building. Foley getting $2.79-million wetlands restoration grant
FOLEY – Work should start in early 2024 to restore wetlands near the head of Wolf and Sandy creeks following action by the Foley City Council. The council voted Monday, March 20, to accept a grant of almost $2.79 million from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
