Foley Inks Long-Term Deal With Snap Soccer
After working together for six years Foley Sports Tourism and Snap Soccer have agreed to a long-term deal to keep elite youth soccer competitions on the schedule for years to come. The deal states that FST will retain Snap as an independent contractor to host soccer tournaments and both parties will work together to promote the Foley economy to the participants of these tournaments. Foley allocates $350,000 for County Road 12 flood repairs
Citizens in the area of State Route 59 and County Road 12 in Foley hope the council’s action to allocate about $350,000 will help solve flooding problems in the area. “This is a major step toward de-bottlenecking the drainage so that it does not backup and flood County Road 12 and potentially put some of our homes in danger up in that area,” Mayor Ralph Hellmich said. Foley Deputy Chief and Lieutenants complete National Command and Staff College
Congratulations to Deputy Chief Kevin Carnley, Lt. Glenn Hartenstein and Lt. Larry Dearing on their graduation of the National Command College. They completed 240 hours of graduate course work online on leadership and attended a two week residency program. Lt. Hartenstein was in Orange Beach, Alabama, and Deputy Carnley and Lt. Dearing were in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. Lt. Hartenstein won the Distinguished Writer Award for session 14 (Jan 17-28, 2022), and Lt. Foley to update military memorials
Foley is taking on two projects to upgrade and add new amenities to a pair of military memorials in city parks. In John Foley Park in the heart of downtown, the city council voted to spend $12,000 to spruce up the WWII memorial that was first placed there in 1943 to honor citizens who were deployed as the war was still being fought. Foley officials are considering future plans for the northwest quadrant of the city that includes the hospital, older neighborhoods and the Foley Sports Complex. A meeting is planned to hear public input for this area.
