Foley City Council Meeting Agenda Sept. 5, 2022

The Foley City Council will meet in a joint regular/work session on Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. at city hall. The council is meeting on Tuesday because of the Labor Day holiday. During the meeting, the council will: Have two public hearings and second readings, one on an ordinance prohibiting camping in certain public areas and declaring 2.19 acres on the Wilson-Pecan property as surplus and authorizing the mayor to enter into a purchase agreement to sell the lot. Alabama tourism spending on track to hit record $24 billion by end of year

Gov. Kay Ivey announced Tuesday that Alabama is on pace to set a record in tourism spending by the end of the year. “It looks like the industry is going to exceed $24 billion — with a ‘b’ — this calendar year,” Ivey said. During the annual Alabama Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Auburn, Ivey said since 2013, Alabama’s tourism industry has more than doubled, growing from about $11 billion to now more than $24 billion, barring any unexpected downturns. City Offices closed September 5

City of Foley offices, other than emergency services, will be closed on Monday, September 5 in celebration of Labor Day. Trash pickup will resume on Tuesday, Septmeber 6, when Monday and Tuesday recycle will be collected. Mayor Hellmich and the city council wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday.

Gravity Island Watersports Hosts Inaugural Wake Jam Tournament September 2-3, 2022

Gravity Island Watersports at OWA is stoked to host its first-ever wakeboarding competition on September 2-3, 2022.
