Amenities to be added at the Coastal Alabama Farmer’s and Fishermen’s Market area

Foley is looking to add amenities and access at the site of the Coastal Alabama Farmer’s and Fishermen’s Market on Miflin Road near OWA and the city’s Sports Tourism Complex. The city took over the complex formally in April after being run for a seven-year term as a non-profit New Markets Tax Credit project and operating on the city land. Foley sidewalk grant

Improvements and extensions of sidewalks on the west side of Foley would cost about $942,929 and the city is applying for a federal grant to pay for the bulk of the work. The cost to the city if the grant is approved would be about. $188,585. Lugenia Hall, Foley’s first Black city council member, dies

Lugenia Hall passed away on June 10, 2022. In 1989, Ms. Hall was elected as the first Black city council member in Foley, Alabama. She was elected as councilwoman to Foley’s District 2. She was reelected in 1992. During her first term on the city council, she was appointed as Foley’s city treasurer. During her tenure on the council, the Holk Post Office building located at 150 East Laurel Ave., was built and dedicated. Hall was a hard worker throughout her entire life and often held multiple jobs to provide for her family. [...]

Sea Turtle Presentation

Date of Event:  Tues, July 19, 2022 Time:  2 pm Where:  Foley Public Library – upstairs meeting room Alabama Coastal Foundation’s Sara Johnson will be giving a presentation at the Foley Public Library on Tues, July 19 at 2 pm on Sea Turtles and the “Share the Beach” program.
