Local nonprofit Clothes Closet says heartfelt farewell to community
The Clothes Closet was a place where you could donate good, used clothing for a purpose. Once donated, two things could happen with those items: they would sell and the money would be given to numerous local charities, or they would be given for free to community members in need. Since 1977, that was the goal of the local nonprofit - to give back to as many as possible. Like so many others, The Clothes Closet felt the effects of COVID-19 in March when they shut their doors. On July 6, the nonprofit [...]
“Safer at Home” extension
Today, Gov. Ivey extended the current “Safer at Home” order, which includes the mask mandate, through Friday, December 11 (when new guidelines will be announced). The state has also lifted occupancy limitations for retailers, gyms and fitness centers as well as entertainment venues, restaurants and close-contact businesses like hair and nail salons. However, for restaurants, gyms/fitness centers, and close-contact businesses, in order to allow for normal capacity, customers must wear masks and be separated by impermeable partitions or barriers like plexiglass.
