Debris Pick Up Update
It is understandable that residents are frustrated by debris that has not been picked up. Please be aware that contractors are working 6 days a week to collect it. On a daily basis, Foley has 40 to 50 of the huge double dump trucks working across the city, daily picking up over 300 loads collectively. Already, they have collected approximately 560,000 cubic yards of vegetative debris. That would cover 100 football fields, 3-feet high. Or another way to look at it is to imagine Jordan Hare or Bryant Denny's single field covered 300 feet high [...]

Forestry team finds damaged trees posing danger in Baldwin County after Hurricane Sally
The road to recovery continues in Baldwin County as cities hit hardest by Hurricane Sally work to remove fragile trees and limbs that could pose a danger to the public. The Urban Forestry Strike Team, a group of highly trained arborists, visited the cities of Foley and Gulf Shores last week to survey the damage, and mark trees that need to be addressed. Dale Dickens, Alabama's Urban Forestry Coordinator, said the team put white marks on trees with limbs at risk of falling, and painted orange X marks on trees that need to [...]

Now back to your regularly scheduled garbage pick up
This is a week of getting back to normal, in terms of garbage and recycling pickup. This week garbage pickup will go back to the normal(old) schedule. Also this week, recycling pickup resumes. Alley garbage pickup for those of you who have them returns. Also, city pickup of “regular” yard debris (grass clippings, etc.) returns. Public works asks that you keep these piles separate from storm debris. Sounds odd, but FEMA will reimburse for storm debris, but not regular limbs and grass from yard maintenance.
