Foley’s city council will meet Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall. The following items will be addressed:
A public hearing to consider a resolution to approve an economic development grant by the city of Foley and SDP Foley.
A public hearing to considering approving an amendment to the zoning ordinance.
A proclamation declaring Feb. 26 as Arbor Day in Foley. This is the 41st year the Foley Beautification board is donating a tree-themed book to school libraries and the Foley Public Library.
A proclamation acknowledging the contributions to Foley by David Horton who recently passed. Horton spent many years working with Riviera Utilities.
Changes to the zoning ordinance regarding accessory dwelling units or independent housing within a single-family residence or a separate unit on the same lot as the primary residence.
The second reading of an ordinance amendment to allow the use of golf carts on a designating a north-south golf cart path from following Pecan Street and Pride Drive from Michigan Avenue on the north and to OWA Boulevard. The first reading of the ordinance came in the Jan. 18 council meeting.
An ordinance rezoning 26 acres of Chen Realty property west of State Route 59 and north of County Road 20 south from business to residential multi-family or apartments. The change received a favorable recommendation from the Foley Planning Commission.
A liquor license for La Parilla Express Y Taqueria at 2851 Pine St.
A resolution accepting costs for weed abatement at 3278 Bellingrath Drive and authorizing a copy be sent to the Baldwin County Tax Collector.
A resolution amending the pay classification plan by authorizing a new position of executive director of infrastructure and development in the Public Works Department. It’s a new position not funded in the 2021-22 budget at a cost of about $82,000.
A resolution setting a public hearing declaring 3217 Upton Gray Place a public nuisance and ordering its abatement. The structure on the property is a burned-out former residence.
A resolution to redirect the fiscal year 2021 Alabama Historic Commission grant focus and amend the budget to raise the amount from $9,600 to $16,000.
An increase of $7,500 to the public relations fund.
A resolution to fund writing services with writing copy for the website and press releases regarding city activities in the amount of $4,000.
A resolution approving an application for the Dollar General Grant for summer reading.
A resolution accepting a Thompson Engineering proposal for grant writing assistance for $25,000 to help with finding potential funding for city capital improvement projects.
A resolution accepting Thompson Engineering’s proposal for the Foley Beach Express widening and resurfacing projects at a cost of about $1.3 million. The city’s portion of the project in a 90/10 percent grant is less than $139,000 with federal funds covering the rest. This will include working including rumble strips the express intersections with County Road 12 and State Route 59.
A resolution accepting right of way easement properties donation near the Coastal Alabama Farmers’ and Fishermen’s Market.
A resolution to approving waiving the fees at heritage park for Sue Leavins with Women’s Care Medical Center in Robertsdale to host a Walk For Life Walk-A-Thon on March 26.
A resolution lowing speed limits in Lakeview Gardens from 35 mph to 25 mph.
A resolution accepting land parcel donation from Bridgeco, a thin strip lining the east side of the Foley Beach Express from just north of Columbia Southern to Roscoe Road.
Resolution modifying the city’s personnel system policy to update the appointed city officials and other housekeeping items concerning leaves of absence, safety and computer use.
A resolution approving a one-time payment to Foley Main Street to assist with a Downtown Foley Strategy Plan for $37,200.
