FOLEY – One southbound lane on Alabama 59 at Baldwin County 20 South will be shut down to traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 14, during construction to complete the Juniper Street extension.
Crews are drilling the pole foundation for the traffic signals to be installed at the intersection where the extension will connect with Alabama 59.
The installation of the traffic signals and the mast arms to support the lights is the last phase of the project to extend Juniper Street from Baldwin County 20 south and west to link with Alabama 59.
The project will provide additional north-south access in Foley allowing an alternate route to using the highway.
Construction began in 2022. McElhenny Construction received the contract for the project after the City Council accepted its bid of $4.53 million.
