FOLEY — After almost a year of effort, a project to validate and improve address information for Baldwin County 9-1-1 is near completion.

Baldwin 9-1-1 has been working with Geo-Comm, Inc. of Saint Cloud, Minn. to support the objectives of Next Generation 9-1-1, known as NG9-1-1, readiness at both the local and state levels.

Since November 2023, field verification efforts have been ongoing to enhance the accuracy of countywide addressing data in order to bolster public safety. As the project enters the final phase, a Geo-Comm field technician will be in Baldwin County from Aug. 20-30, 2024. The work will involve thorough verification of addresses across various locations within the county.

The Geo-Comm field technician’s vehicle will be clearly marked with the Geo-Comm logo, and the technician will be wearing official Geo-Comm attire. The focus of their activities will be on confirming the location of structures and house numbers, without direct engagement with residents or approaching structures. As part of this project, a Geo-Comm technician’s vehicle could drive onto someone’s property to verify a house number.

Residents are asked to ensure that their house numbers are visibly displayed to assist in this process.

Baldwin County 9-1-1 and Geo-Comm, Inc. said they greatly appreciate the community’s cooperation throughout this project. Public support has been vital in helping us improve emergency response capabilities across the county.
