The City of Foley, in partnership with numerous local organizations, came together on November 19 to distribute more than 80,000 pounds of food to those in need during the Waymaker Food Drive.

The goal of the event was to deliver vital food assistance to local families ahead of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. The organizations that took part were Feeding the Gulf Coast, Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Foley, Be Balanced Wholistic Health Care, Local Vibe, and Cooper Farm.

Between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., volunteers distributed boxes of fresh produce, pantry staples, and frozen goods to nearly 800 vehicles. Each family received a generously packed box containing items such as red cabbage, watermelon, seedless raisins, sweet corn, apples, pears, cucumbers, onions, zucchini, cabbage, apple sauce, garbanzo beans, rice, dried Northern beans, canned mixed vegetables, frozen fruit cups, strawberry surge beverages, and frozen chicken drumsticks.

In addition to the onsite distribution, 95 extra boxes were delivered to the Foley Housing Authority to assist residents who could not attend the event in person.

City employees, church volunteers, and Feeding the Gulf Coast staff worked side-by-side to ensure a smooth, welcoming, and efficient process. Their collaborative effort reflects Foley’s ongoing commitment to supporting local families and strengthening community ties—especially during the holiday season.

“Foley is a deeply caring community,” said Pastor Joe Aldrete of Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Foley. “We know that the holidays can be an especially challenging time and this year has been particularly difficult for so many. But even when you stack up all the hardships there is nothing that love cannot conquer. People donated so many things- time, money, goods because they love their neighbors. That is what was really on display here today.”
