The Foley City Council will hold its regular work session and meeting Monday, Aug. 17. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. in the council chambers at Foley City Hall.

Among the items on the agenda are: 

  • A public hearing to declare weeds and the accumulation of junk, trash and litter to be a public nuisance and ordering its abatement on Cedar Court.
  • A proclamation honoring Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner Chris Blankenship.
  • Monthly reports on taxes and permit plans and from the Planning and Zoning, Police, Building, Fire and Human Resources departments.
  • A report on bills approved and paid in July.
  • The first reading of an ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing, approval and consideration of applications for data centers, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining facilities, server farms and similar, technically-oriented, use, facility or operation that is primarily used for computing, data processing, data storage, cryptocurrency generation or similar technological functions and that is characterized by high electrical demand and/or high water consumption.
  • The second reading of an ordinance establishing fees and policies for the gymnasium at the Foley Activity Center.
  • The second reading of an ordinance setting speed limits and traffic controls in the Bay Forest Estates and Wolf Bay Point subdivisions.
  • Approving ABC licenses – lounge retail liquor class II (package), retail beer (off premises only) and retail table wine (off premises only) – for BJ’s Wholesale Club on Palm Beach Way.
  • Authorizing employees to enter property on Cedar Court to abate a public nuisance.
  • Authorizing a contribution to purchase new reindeer for Santa Claus float in the Foley Kiwanis Club Christmas Parade.
  • Accepting Goodwyn, Mill, Cawood’s proposal for developing a Municipal Complex Master Plan.
  • Accepting the Legislative Event Grant for the 2026 fiscal year.
  • Accepting a donation of K9 trauma kits from Protecting K9 Heroes.
  • Declaring Police Sgt. Randy Stallworth’s badge and service weapon as surplus.
  • Waiving the fees at Max Griffin Park for the Women’s Care Medical Center to hold a Walk for Life Walk-A-Thon fundraising event.
  • Purchasing a new FEL commercial sanitation truck.
  • Approving the City of Foley’s first Gulf Coast Equipment “Roadeo” hospitality night and approving a budget amendment for sponsorship revenue and event expenditures.
  • Approving the Frazer Lanier Company Inc. as investment banker, general obligation warrants, on behalf of the City of Foley.
  • Setting a public hearing for an ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing, approval and consideration of applications for data centers, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining facilities, server farms and similar, technically-oriented uses, facilities or operations.
  • Contributing $10,000 to support the Blankenship Scholars Program at the University of South Alabama in honor of Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner Chris Blankenship.
  • Accepting and using unbudgeted money received by the Foley Fire Department.
  • Waiving the fees for the use of the Foley Civic Center for the Foley Little Lions.
  • Authorizing the mayor to sign a letter of intent for the Street Department.
  • Setting a public hearing to declare weeds to be a public nuisance and ordering its abatement on Gallica Lane.
  • Setting a public hearing on declaring weeds to be a public nuisance and ordering its abatement at the intersection of South Hickory Street and Baldwin County 20.
  • Approving bids for July 2026.
  • Authorizing the purchase of real property on East Rose Avenue.
  • Adopting a transportation plan pursuant to the Rebuild Alabama Act.
