FOLEY – The Foley City Council will hold its work session and meeting Monday, March 23.

The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. in the council chambers at Foley City Hall. The meeting was rescheduled from Monday, March 16.

Among the items on the agenda are: 

  • A discussion of the Fiscal Year 2026 Resurfacing Project.
  • Hearing monthly department reports on planning and zoning, taxes, human resources, building and police and fire activities.
  • Approving and paying bills for the record.
  • Amending the City of Foley Zoning Ordinance.
  • The first reading of an ordinance to adopt a technical design manual governing design, development, permitting and construction standards within Foley and rescinding certain prior ordinances.
  • The second reading of an ordinance relating to the speed limits and traffic controls in the Hickory Bend subdivision.
  • Applying for the FY2027 Alabama Coastal Area Management Program grant for the Wolf Bay Watershed Stormwater Management Plan.
  • Accepting the FY2026 Alabama Transportation and Improvement Program II (ATRIP II) grant award for the Miflin Road/Alabama 161 intersection improvements.
  • Setting a public hearing to consider zoning ordinance amendments.
  • Acknowledging the prior transfer of the city-owned portion of the road now designated as Alabama 161 to the Alabama Department of Transportation and providing for the continued local recognition of the name Foley Beach Express within the city of Foley.
  • Approving and memorializing funds for the Public Works complex.
  • Authorizing the president of the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation to act as proxy for the city of Foley at the regular Annual Membership Meeting.
  • Waiving fees for the use of Heritage Park on Aug. 30, 2026 for Big Fish Ministries to host the Drug Overdose Awareness Day.
  • Accepting Volkert’s second supplemental agreement for airfield drainage improvements.
  • Waiving rental fees for Ecumenical Ministries at the Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermens Market.
  • Approving monthly bills for February 2026.
  • Accepting the cooperative agreement from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
  • Appropriating construction funds for the Alabama 59 sidewalk from East Orchid Avenue to East Section Avenue.
  • Applying for the FY2026 Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant.
  • Approving, appropriating and memorializing the first change order for additional funds for the Miflin Road Access Management Plan Phase 1.
  • Approving the U.S. Department of Agriculture service agreement for beaver management.
  • Sponsoring the Alabama League of Municipalities participation with the International Council of Shopping Centers Conference and Tradeshow.
  • Amending the pay classification in the Police Department and Public Lbrary.
  • Setting a public hearing declaring weeds and the accumulation of junk, trash and litter to be a public nuisance and ordering its abatement at a location on McGaster Trail in Foley.
  • Waiving the fees for the use of Max Griffin Park for the Foley Kiwanis Club International Kids Day event.
  • Appropriating additional funds for the second phase of the Cedar Street sidewalk project.
  • Approving the YMCA of South Alabama 2026 Fore the Kids Golf Classic sponsorship project.
  • Requesting permission to solicit architectural and engineering firms to develop a Foley Senior Center facility.

  • Accepting the donation of certain real property from Springdale Stores Inc.
