The Foley Event Train will begin its 2026 summer season with a celebration marking America’s 250th anniversary.

The train starts operation Tuesday, May 26, with passengers boarding and departing from the Foley Railroad Museum at the city’s historic 1909 L&N Depot on East Laurel Avenue.

To kick off the depot’s America 250 celebration, living history interpreters dressed as Revolutionary War soldiers will visit the Railroad Museum on Tuesday, May 26, and Thursday, May 28.

Throughout the summer, visitors can also take part in an American Revolution-themed scavenger hunt offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Participants can pick up scavenger hunt materials at the Model Train Exhibit and search for hidden items throughout both the exhibit and the Foley Railroad Museum.

The first 250 guests who successfully complete the scavenger hunt will receive a commemorative pin recognizing America’s 250th anniversary.

Visitors are also invited to leave messages and reflections on the museum’s America 250 Visitor Response Wall.

The exhibit and train will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The Foley Railroad Museum is open Monday through Saturday.

The last admission to all locations will be at 2:45 p.m.

Admission to the museum and rides on the Event Train are free.

The train ride takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes as it circles the park. The train includes about four passenger cars, each capable of carrying up to four passengers, depending on passenger size.
