FOLEY – Residents wanting to explore job opportunities have a new resource with an upcoming series of Foley Public Library Computer Lab classes.
The lab is offering classes to help participants start their search for career advancement.
The Job Search Readiness classes are appropriate for everyone whether they are looking for their first job or seeking new employment opportunities. Library Technical Assistant Melinda Murphy, who has more than 30 years of experience helping job seekers will teach the classes.
The classes include:
Resumes – Jan. 6, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Attendees who have never written a resume or who would like help updating their current data can get help from this class. Participants will learn how to use a resume template, how to best organize their employment and education history and how to save a copy of their resume for future use.
Job Search – Jan. 13, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The class will help students learn who to begin their job search, what employment resources are available and how to navigate online applications and upload resumes.
Interviews – Jan. 20, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Attendees will learn the “do’s and don’ts’ for job interviews. Topics will include how to dress appropriately, how to use good nonverbal communication – such as posture and eye contact and how to answer difficult questions.
The classes are open to attendees who are aged 16 and older. Participants may sign up for one or more classes. All classes are free, but registration is required. Registration is now open.
