FOLEY – Foley’s newly elected and returning leaders will officially begin their four-year terms on Monday, Nov. 3, as the city’s new administration takes office.
A special organizational meeting of the Foley City Council will take place at 2 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall. During the meeting, Mayor Ralph Hellmich and the five members of the City Council will be sworn in to begin their new terms of service.
Three council members were elected in 2024. Timothy “Tim” Lower will represent District 2, Roderick “Roddy” Burkle will serve District 3, and Larry Engel will represent District 4. Lower and Engel will officially begin their term in office Monday, while Burkle was appointed in October to fill the remaining weeks of the late Richard Dayton’s term.
Two incumbent council members will also continue their service. Wayne Trawick will represent District 1, and Charles Ebert III will begin another term representing District 5. Hellmich will be sworn in for his second term as mayor.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the council will select a council president and president pro tempore, adopt rules of procedure for the new term, appoint council representatives to city boards and the Planning Commission, and designate depositories for city funds.
City judicial officials, executive directors, and department heads will also be sworn in during the meeting.
