FOLEY – The City of Foley is moving forward with an expanded plan to enhance Aaronville Park in southwest Foley.
At its meeting on Monday, Aug. 4, the Foley City Council approved changes to the park’s upgrade project, which will now include a larger building and additional improvements.
“This project consists of replacing the bathroom building with a prefab building, also replacing the existing pavilion, as well as some fencing on one of the ball fields,” said Jeff Lee, director of the Foley Parks and Recreation Department.
Originally approved in 2023, the project was re-evaluated to better meet the needs of park visitors.
“We went back to the drawing board,” Lee said. “We wanted to reconsider all of our options. So we actually went with a bigger building. That’s why we’re rescinding this one and moving forward with a new project.”
The updated plans include:
-
A larger prefabricated restroom building with facilities that meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards
-
Replacement of the existing pavilion
-
New fencing at the baseball field
Some portions of the work will be completed by city employees. The city will also seek bids for specific tasks, including demolition of the current bathroom building, grading, and site preparation for the new structure.
