FOLEY – The city of Foley is under consideration for a fifth Distinguished Budget Award, a major national recognition for financial reporting. The Foley City Council is scheduled to discuss the report to the Government Finance Officers Association at the council work session and meeting Monday, Dec. 4. Graham Creek Christmas Trail opening postponed due to rain
FOLEY -- The Christmas Trail at Foley's Graham Creek Nature Preserve will open Friday, Dec. 8. The trail, which features festive holiday lights and displays along the boardwalk at the municipal nature preserve, was scheduled to open Saturday, Dec. 2. The opening was postponed due to the predictions of heavy rain that day. The U.S. Weather Service forecast calls for a 90% chance of rain Saturday with 20 mile-an-hour wind gusts. Foley Christmas Parade, other events rescheduled due to weather
FOLEY – The Foley Kiwanis Christmas Parade and other holiday events set for Friday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 2, have been rescheduled due to the threat of inclement weather. The parade had been scheduled for Saturday morning. Weather forecasts predict a 90% chance of rain Saturday with 20 mile an hour wind gusts. Work to start on new Foley downtown public restrooms
FOLEY – Visitors to downtown Foley will have new public restrooms following the approval of almost $500,000 for the project by the City Council. The council approved $486,616 in funding for the project at the John B. Foley Park at the intersection of Alabama 59 and U.S. 98 at the center of the downtown historic district. ROAD CLOSURE: Alleyway behind Buywise
Beginning Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 7:00 a.m. through Friday, December 15, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. the alley behind Buywise will be closed for a culvert installation. The closed alley way begins at Verbena Ave. and extends south, past Buywise. The alley closure will allow our Street Department to complete the culvert installation. Improvements planned at Foley’s Aaronville Park
FOLEY – The city of Foley is planning new restrooms at the municipal park in Aaronville as part of a series of improvements in the community. The Foley City Council approved a capital project for improvements at the park. Work begins on Mills projects
FOLEY – Work is starting on Foley’s newest park and other improvements in the newly annexed Mills Community. The city is clearing four acres of wooded property in the newly annexed Mills Community, which will become Foley’s newest park. Mills residents voted in August to approve annexation into Foley. Bon Secour headwater project area to become Foley wetland reserve
FOLEY – Areas that were part of drainage Improvements at the headwaters of the Bon Secour River could become a municipal wetland reserve under plans being developed by the city of Foley. Workers have been clearing debris left in the headwaters after Hurricane Sally struck the area in 2020.
