Model of Baldwin’s first hospital building latest addition to Foley railroad display

FOLEY – A building that has stood at the corner of what is now the intersection of Baldwin County’s two main highways for more than a century is the latest Foley landmark to be reproduced for the city’s railroad exhibit. Foley extends burn ban

With the annual Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) burn ban on open burning in Baldwin County expiring tonight (10/31), Foley Fire Chief Joey Darby has issued a local burn ban on open burning of debris in accordance with Foley Code of Ordinances, Article 1, Section 4-1, (1), (e), Section 307.1.1.3. This ban on open burning is due to our severe drought conditions and expected dry weather with low humidity over the next several days. Foley’s South Baldwin Regional Medical Center on list of top state hospitals

FOLEY – South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley is on Newsweek magazine’s list of top hospitals in Alabama for 2024. The hospital was eighth in the list of top hospitals in the state. The SBRMC was the only hospital in South Alabama to be included in the list. Juniper Street extension nears completion

FOLEY – Work is nearing completion on the Juniper Street extension that will create a new north-south route to allow local traffic to bypass areas of Alabama 59. The extension should be open by the end of November, Jeff Phillips, Foley construction project manager, said. Phillips said the contractor began paving the binder layer last week. Foley celebrates Hometown Halloween

FOLEY – Thousands of costumed creatures wandered the streets of downtown Foley on Thursday, Oct. 26 during the annual Hometown Halloween celebration. About 60 local businesses, civic organizations and other groups set up tents and tables where children played games and filled bags with treats. Children also lined up for bounce houses, face painting, a cake walk and other activities. One new feature for 2023 was the judging of booth decorations. Foley making plans to extend East Bullard Avenue

FOLEY – The extension of East Bullard Avenue is one of the latest projects being considered by the city of Foley to improve access in the community. The project is one of several street extensions recently completed or in progress. Other work includes the extension of North Pecan Street completed earlier this year, South Pecan Street now underway and South Juniper Street, which will be completed after the installation of traffic signals. Sun Belt Conference Champions To Be Crowned in Foley

FOLEY, AL –  The Sun Belt Conference is returning to Foley this fall to crown multiple champions. The Men’s and Women’s Cross Country team and individual titles will be awarded on Saturday, October 28. The Women’s Soccer champion will be determined on November 5. Baldwin Pops performs in Foley

FOLEY – A large crowd turned out under clear skies for the Baldwin Pops orchestra’s first fall performance in Foley’s Heritage Park on Sunday, Oct. 22. The theme of the concert was “Movies and More: Music from TV Shows and the Silver Screen.”  About 300 people sat in chairs and on blankets to hear the band play selections from popular movies and television shows by composers such as John Williams. Garbage, recycling guidelines discussed in Foley

FOLEY – Collecting garbage from about 9,000 homes, not to mention about 600 commercial dumpsters each week is a big job and getting bigger for the Foley Public Works employees working to keep the city clean.
