Foley adding plaques at renovated fountain site
FOLEY – Two bronze plaques will be placed on the renovated fountain at John B. Foley Park as part of the final phase of improvements at the site. The plaques will recognize city founder, John B. Midday Melodies postponed until Monday due to weather
FOLEY – Due to expected inclement weather, the Midday Melodies performance scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 11, has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 16. Zack Chavers will perform at the clock tower in Foley’s Heritage Park on Monday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The concert series features performances each week in October. Hometown Halloween comes to Foley Oct. 26
FOLEY – Little ghosts, goblins and other strange creatures will once again haunt the streets of Foley on Thursday, Oct. 26 when Hometown Halloween takes place downtown. The celebration takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more than 20 years, Hometown Halloween has been a Foley tradition of family fun that continues to grow. The event is a partnership between the city and local businesses, churches and community organizations. It’s been 100 years since a county-wide meeting of “every one interested in the History of Baldwin County and its glorious past” gathered at the historic location of Blakeley. New fire trucks coming to Foley
FOLEY – A new fire truck should be arriving in Foley in about one month and work is starting on a second vehicle. Foley Fire Chief Joey Darby said the new pumper should be in service sooner in the next few weeks. Foley adding garbage trucks to increase collection routes
FOLEY – The city of Foley is adding a fifth garbage collection route to expand services to meet the demands of the growing community population. The Foley City Council voted Monday, Oct. 2, to approve the purchase of two new trucks at a combined cost of almost $728,000. Midday Melodies kicks off fall music series in Foley
FOLEY – Midday Melodies began its 2023 fall lunchtime music series with a performance by This Side of 49 on Wednesday, Oct. 3. The band performed at Foley’s clock tower in Heritage Park. Foley plans $1.5 million in improvements at Melvin Roberts Park
FOLEY – The city of Foley plans to spend about $1.5 to improve Melvin Roberts Park on North Cedar Street. The Foley City Council voted Monday, Oct. 2, to approve the project. USA Archery Brings Collegiate Shooters To Foley
The USA Archery National 3D Collegiate Championship is returning to Foley for the seventh year in a row bringing with it teams from across the country. This national event is hosted in conjunction with the Archery Shooters Association (ASA). ASA Event Director, Mike Tyrell said this year teams will be coming from as far west as California and as far north as New York. The competition consists of eight classes- men’s and women’s compound bow, with fixed pins and movable site classes, barebow recurve, and Olympic recurve. Sidewalk grant approved for Foley
FOLEY – More than three years after the project was first proposed, work to build or expand more than 1.5 miles of sidewalks linking Foley schools with growing residential areas should start soon. The Alabama Department of Transportation approved a grant for Foley under the Transportation Alternatives Program, known as TAP. The grant application proposes creating or expanding bicycle and pedestrian access routes between the area near Foley High School and Mathis Elementary School and South Hickory Street to the west.
