Local artist leaves her mark in Foley

Local artist Jessica Kinsey recently received the opportunity of a lifetime: to leave her mark in Foley through her gift of art. Kinsey was commissioned to paint a poppy mural on the fence that runs alongside the Foley Art Center, and she did so with pride. “It’s been an absolute honor and privilege to have this opportunity to share my God-given talents and to just put my mark on the city of Foley like I have, and to be able to share that with others and brighten their day,” she said. Traffic lights synchronized on 59 in Foley, up next: 90, 98 and 45

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) wants drivers to spend less time at red lights. As part of a five-year project, ALDOT is synchronizing lights on all state routes across Alabama. “While all signals on state routes region-wide are a part of the program, US-45, US-90, US-98, and SR-59 in Mobile and Baldwin Counties will receive the updates first as those are the corridors where traffic volumes and congestion are the highest,” said ALDOT in its original statement on the project. Foley employees identify primary saferoom location

After deliberation and examination of approximately 13 sites within the City of Foley, city employees have determined the desired primary site for the future first responders saferoom. The primary site is located along Berry Avenue, between North Poplar Street and North Juniper Street. City staff must also identify a secondary site location prior to submitting the application to FEMA. The application is due by mid-July. Foley staff drafting impact fee ordinance for council consideration

The Foley City Council has asked city staff to move forward with drafting an impact fee ordinance to bring before the council for consideration. If approved, an impact fee would be implemented on new developments within Foley. These fees would be utilized in creating new infrastructure for the city, including roads, police, fire, and parks and recreation. Mama Bear’s Bakery opens doors in Foley

Two years ago, Foley Main Street revealed results of a survey centered around downtown Foley. Survey participants were asked to name the top types of food and drink businesses they’d like to see come to the downtown area. A whopping 48 percent answered a bakery, placing it in the number one spot for the most desired new business. The wait is over. Angels Of Hope to give away 5000 lbs of food in Baldwin County on Saturday May 29

On May 29th Angels of Hope Community Outreach Services will give away over 5000 lbs of free food to the Baldwin County Area between the hours of 11:00 a.m.- until all food is gone. Food box will include dairy, fruits, vegetables, perishable and non perishable items.
