While Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to pass to the west and north of Foley, the system is expected to bring heavy rains and possible flooding along the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Foley officials are monitoring local weather conditions and watching the path of the storm, which is expected to move along the Texas coast before crossing into western Louisiana.

Baldwin County is under a flood watch until 7 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Some locations could receive 4 to 8 inches of additional rain with more rain possible in isolated areas. Residents living in low lying areas should be prepared for possible flooding and be ready to move to safer locations if necessary.

Wind gusts of up to 25 miles an hour are possible in the Foley area, according to National Weather Service forecasts.

Residents should monitor local weather alerts for additional details. Information on signing up for the county’s Alert Baldwin system is available at https://baldwincountyal.gov/departments/emergency-management-agency/alert-baldwin.
