The Foley City Council will hold its regular work session and meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. in the council chambers at Foley City Hall. The meeting was rescheduled from Monday, Sept. 7, due to the Labor Day holiday.

Among the items on the agenda are: 

  • A public hearing to declare weeds to be a public nuisance and order its abatement on West Carolyn Avenue.
  • A public hearing declaring the accumulation of junk to be a public nuisance and ordering its abatement on East Michigan Avenue.
  • A public hearing to consider an ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing, approval and consideration of applications for data centers, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining facilities, server farms and similar, technically-oriented, use, facility or operation that is primarily used for computing, data processing, data storage, cryptocurrency generation or similar technological functions and that is characterized by high electrical demand and/or high water consumption.
  • A proclamation for National Voter Registration Day.
  • Main Street Alabama awards presentation.
  • The first reading of an ordinance rezoning property owned by the City of Foley from extended business, B-1A, and residential single family, R-3, to planned industrial, PID.
  • The first reading of an ordinance rezoning property owned by Rolling Stones LLC from extended business, B-1A, to local business, B-3.
  • The second reading of an ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing, approval and consideration of applications for data centers, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining facilities, server farms and similar, technically-oriented, use, facility or operation that is primarily used for computing, data processing, data storage, cryptocurrency generation or similar technological functions and that is characterized by high electrical demand and/or high water consumption.
  • Authorizing the issuance and making provision for the payment of General Obligation Warrants Series 2026.
  • Approving a special events retail liquor license for the Tacos and Tequila Festival at 200 N. McKenzie St.
  • Authorizing employees to enter property on Cedar Court to abate a public nuisance.
  • Accepting an IRIS biometric identification equipment donation.
  • Authorizing the mayor to sign a letter of intent for a sweeper truck in the Street Department.
  • Changing pharmacy benefit managers.
  • Adopting the Fiscal Year 2027 budgets.
  • Submitting a grant application to the Alabama Department of Transportation Aeronautics Bureau to construct a new terminal building.
  • Setting a public hearing on an ordinance to rezone property owned by the City of Foley from extended business, B-1A and residential single family, R-3, to planned industrial, PID.
  • Setting a public hearing on an ordinance to rezone property owned by Rolling Stones LLC from extended business, B-1A, to local business, B-3.
  • Authorizing employees to enter property on West Carolyn Avenue to abate a public nuisance.
  • Authorizing employees to enter property on East Michigan Avenue to abate a public nuisance.
  • Discussing the Foley Farmers Market kitchen bid results.
  • Approving the rental of Heritage Park to Lisa Yeaster to host the Gumbo and Alabama Slammer Festival and a variance to allow alcohol to be sold.
  • Transferring Engineering operational funds to Public Safety for the City Hall bollards.
  • Amending the budget and awarding the bid to Asphalt Services Inc. for the 2026 fiscal year Resurfacing Project.
  • Transferring funds from a capital project to an operational account and requesting permission to solicit bids and award within operational budget threshold for the Main Street Cat Alley Phase 2 Project.
  • Approving Kimley-Horn’s Professional Engineering Design Services proposal for the West Pride Boulevard intersection improvements project.
  • Approving Thompson Engineering’s ALDOT permitting contract addendum for the Foley Beach Express Industrial Park access roads.
  • Awarding the bid for the Mills Community Pedestrian Improvement Project to Trenchline Civil.
  • Approving the rental of Heritage Park for Lisa Yeater to host the Mudbugs and Margaritas Festival and a variance to allow alcohol to be served.
  • Authorizing the mayor to sign a contract with Vermont Systems.
  • Setting a public hearing declaring weeds to be a public nuisance and ordering its abatement on South Hickory Street north of the Crown Walk subdivision entrance.
  • Authorizing the mayor to sign a letter of intent to purchase a 2028 custom fire pumper for the Foley Fire Department.
