FOLEY – Foley’s annual Hometown Halloween returns Thursday, Oct. 23, bringing thousands of costumed children and families to the streets of downtown for an evening of festive fun.

The celebration runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and continues a more than 20-year Foley tradition of safe, family-friendly entertainment that grows each year.

Hometown Halloween is a partnership between the City of Foley and local businesses, churches, and community organizations. Participants will set up booths offering games, activities, and plenty of treats. Booths will be judged for creativity, with prizes and recognition on the city’s website for the winning display.

The event will feature a jump house, face painting, food concessions, cake walk, and games, along with the always-popular costume contest, which begins at 6 p.m. on the stage behind the Holmes Medical Museum.

Costumes will be judged for creativity and originality in several categories — from toddlers to teens and adults — plus a special group category. More than $1,000 in prizes will be awarded.

To keep families safe, portions of South Alston Street, Orange Avenue, and East Laurel Avenue will be closed to traffic during the event. Foley police and firefighters will be on hand, and additional lighting will be set up to ensure a fun and secure evening.
