As you are aware the COVID cases in our area are continuing to increase. At our most recent City Council meeting, it was decided to put our Pandemic Plan – Phase One back into action for all City facilities. What this means for our Senior Center and how it effects you is that masks will be required when social distancing is not an option.
*Cards and board games can continue as long as all players wear a mask.
*Saturday Night Dance, Ballroom Dance Lessons, Line Dancing all participants will be required to wear a mask or the event will be cancelled until further notice.
*Exercise classes will have limited participants to ensure that they are 6′ apart.
*All other activities (T.O.P.S., Bingo, Crochet & knitting, Open Jam) will be physically distanced or participants will be required to wear a mask.
*Dinner B4 Dark will be cancelled until further notice.
*Potluck will be cancelled until further notice.
*Self serve coffee pots will be discontinued, as well as bringing in food to share. Feel free to bring your own drink and snack.
Before coming to our Senior Center, please screen yourself before entering the building by asking the following questions. If the answer is YES to ANY of the following questions, please do not attend any Senior Center function until you and/or your household are symptom free for 72 hours.
>Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?
>Are you or someone in your family experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
>Have you or someone in your family had a fever in the last 48 hours?
>Have you or someone in your family experienced a new loss of taste or smell?
>Have you or someone in your family experienced vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours?
The Senior Center’s management and staff strongly feel that it is time to take this level of action to ensure those who visit our Senior Center and also our Senior Center employees remain as healthy and safe as possible. Please know I am as disappointed as you are with these changes and I am truly saddened that we are having to back up when we just started going forward. I pray these safety measures will only be in effect for a short amount of time and once we see the numbers declining, we will feel safer re-opening our activities.
Please get vacinated, wash your hands, wear your mask, use hand sanitizer, cover your cough/sneeze and stay home if you are not feeling well.
These changes are being implemented immediately. Thank you in advance for understanding and for abiding by these established guidelines.
