Performances, fireworks and live music in store for July 4th

With Independence Day right around the corner, the Gulf Coast’s newest attraction is gearing up to celebrate in a big way. OWA announces plans to celebrate its first 4th of July with a variety of exciting shows, live performances and memorable entertainment for its guests, capping the night off with a spectacular patriotic fireworks show at 8:45pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.

“Our 4th of July celebration is the perfect chance for families to experience OWA to its fullest,” said Kristin Hellmich, OWA’s Director of Marketing and PR. “Whether you’ve been to OWA before or are visiting for the first time, our free events, activities and shows are bound to entertain the entire family for hours. We plan to make this celebration a yearly tradition for residents and visitors alike.”

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy entertainment along the admission-free streets of Downtown OWA, like a brass band popping up or high-flying “skippers” performing acrobatic stunts to lively music. Enjoy delicious new restaurants and fun activities during the day, then dance to the rhythm of the Tommy Morse Band from 5-8pm on OWA’s island, complete with outdoor amphitheater. Cap off the holiday festivities with GLOWA, OWA’s live nighttime show at 8:30pm, featuring dueling DJs, colorful lights and synchronized fountains.

As the night winds down, the fireworks lift off. Kick back on the 1.5 acre island, find a cozy bench in Downtown, or watch from the top of Freedom Flyer as a spectacular fireworks light up the night sky at 8:45pm over picturesque Lake OWA.
