Foley police have issued a statement on the arrest of a suspect in the Feb. 4 shooting:

UPDATE

FOLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT
FEBRUARY 18, 2024
POC: LT. GLENN HARTENSTEIN

A suspect was identified Friday through the excellent teamwork of our Criminal Investigations Division, consisting of detectives, crime analysts, and professional staff.  The offender was identified as Demetrius Kevon Dailey (23 of Bay Minette AL).   Detectives located evidence at the original scene that led to the discovery of an additional car and victim that was the shooter’s intended target.  Detectives determined that the shooter struck our initial victim’s vehicle as he was shooting at his intended target, which is now our second victim in the case.  Our investigation has not indicated any evidence of the early reports of a gun battle.  In fact, our evidence points to one shooter on foot with complete disregard for the safety of nearby residents or  anyone in passing cars.

Area agencies were alerted to his identity and the vehicle information that detectives had discovered during the investigation.  Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputies located the offender at a residence in south Fairhope early Saturday morning, where he was hiding, and he was arrested without incident after a search.  Daily was arrested on five counts of  Discharging a Firearm into an occupied vehicle.

The investigation is still ongoing, and this is all we are prepared to release at this time.
