Foley residents, first responders and others will have a chance to show their support for city public safety during a “Battle of the Badges” blood drive.

LifeSouth is conducting the community blood drive competition between supporters of the Foley Police Department and Foley Fire Department on Friday, June 28, and Saturday June 29 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m..

The drive will be at the Police Department on June 28 and Fire Department on June 29.

Donors may give whole blood, platelets, plasma or double red cells.  Everyone making a donation will receive a free cholesterol screening and a $20 e-gift card.

At the beginning of their appointed donation times, donors will choose to give on behalf of the fire or police.

LifeSouth will tally the results for both departments. The department that receives the most will be presented with a certificate.  The competition is a good-natured rivalry to see who gets bragging rights for next year’s event.
