Foley is under a tropical storm warning as the effects of Tropical Storm Bertha are expected to begin affecting the region Tuesday.
The City of Foley is monitoring Tropical Storm Bertha as the system moves across the northern Gulf of Mexico. A tropical storm warning means that winds of at least 39 miles per hour are expected within 36 hours. The winds may be accompanied by storm surge, coastal flooding and river flooding.
At 7 a.m. Monday, July 21, the storm was about 175 miles southeast of Mobile. At 10 a.m., the storm had maximum winds of 60 miles per hour and was moving north/northwest at 3 miles per hour.
Tropical storm conditions are expected in Foley late Tuesday. Conditions will continue through Wednesday.
Between 2 and 4 inches of rain are expected with some areas receiving up to 6 inches. Heavy rains may cause flash flooding, particularly on roads that are susceptible to flooding.
A 2 to 4-foot storm surge is expected along parts of the Alabama coast. Dangerous rip currents and rough surf are also predicted.
Residents should begin taking precautions against the effects of the storm.

- Avoid driving through flooded roads.
- Stay weather aware and be ready for changing conditions.
