Foley continues to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a variety of events around the city.

The Graham Creek Nature Preserve is presenting Foley’s Flags of Freedom celebration. The event is a self-guided tour of American flags placed across the preserve. The preserve includes more than 600 acres of natural landscape with extensive walking trails, boardwalks and other features.

As the July 4 holiday approaches, Foley has more than 250 additional flags flying on the streets of the city. Banners also adorn many city buildings and other facilities, including the pedestrian bridge over Alabama 59 and the pavilion at Heritage Park.

In 2026, Foley also planted more than 250 trees around the city as part of the anniversary celebration.

OWA is also celebrating Independence Day with a “Star Spangled 250th Spectacular,” on Saturday, July 4. The event begins at 2 p.m. and concludes at 8:50 p.m. with a fireworks display.

On Tuesday, June 30, the Foley Senior Center hosted a patriotic-themed pot-luck luncheon as part of the city’s semiquincentennial celebration. More than 100 participants took part in the event.

The Foley Depot Museum presented Revolutionary War reenactors in Heritage Park on Thursday, July 2, as part of the city’s America 250 events.

The reenactors conducted musket firing demonstrations at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.

Depot visitors can also stop by the museum’s America 250 Visitor Response Wall, where they can leave a special message reflecting on America’s 250th anniversary.
