FOLEY – An update of rules for park use in Foley is one of the items on the agenda for the Foley City Council when the group meets Monday.

The council’s regular work session and meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at Foley City Hall.

The council is scheduled to hold a first reading of an ordinance setting rules for park use. 

The regulations would apply to city parks including Sara Thompson Kids Park, Max Griffin Park, Mel Roberts Park, Aaronville Park, Beulah Heights Park, Heritage Park,  John B. Foley Park, the Foley Horse Arena, Florence B. Mathis Park, Pine Street Park, the Raymond C. Christensen Sportsplex, Ralph Schumacher Soccer Park, the Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail and the Foley Dog Park.

The parks would be open from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. unless users have permission from the city to be at a site during a special event. The ordinance also includes regulations for specific parks.

Other items on the council agenda include:

  • A public hearing to consider the adoption of Foley Zoning Ordinance amendments.
  • A presentation on the Sister City trip by Foley-area students.
  • Declaring a 1.7-acre parcel surplus and authorizing the sale of the property.
  • Amending the Foley Zoning Ordinance.
  • Approve the mowing of property on the northwest corner of Hickory Street and U.S. 98 by the Foley Forestry Department.
  • Leasing T-Hangar end units on the north apron of the Foley Municipal Airport and establishing a lease rate.
  • Accepting supplemental agreements for professional services related to a terminal building at the Foley Municipal Airport.
  • Approving the application for a Highway Safety Improvement Grant for pedestrian improvements.
  • Waiving the Board of Adjustments and Appeals application fee for The Way, The Truth and The Life Holiness Church.
  • Approving the professional land surveying proposal from Beyond Measure Surveying for Lot 3-B of the Foley Beach Express Industrial Park Unit 7.
  • Transferring funds from the library personnel account to operating.
  • Approving the East Peachtree pedestrian improvements and accepting The Capstone Engineering Group’s professional services.
  • Accepting and using unbudgeted donation money issued to the Foley Police Department.
  • Purchasing and installing a lightning suppression system for the Foley Municipal Airport.
  • Approving a Never Forget Memorial on the Perry Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail.
  • Appointing members to the Library Advisory Committee.
  • Authorizing the Magnolia River Stream Cleanout Project.
  • Approving a right-of-way use agreement between the city of Foley and Colt Foley LLC.
  • Approving a change order for the Juniper Street South Extension Project.
  • Adding services for WAS Design Inc. to cover the specifications and oversight for three additional pickleball courts using impact fees.
  • Approving additional funds for the East Jessamine Avenue Extension and going to bid.
  • Authorizing the mayor to sign a letter of intent for the Sanitation Department.
  • Declaring bicycles and other miscellaneous items as surplus and donating the material to the Calvary Chapel Fellowship Dream Center of Foley.
  • Transferring budgeted funds from the Fire Ad Valorem Fund capital to operating.
  • Completing the flag pole parking area project.
